I am evaluating NowSMS to send MMS to uk mobile phones. am using the siemens MC35T terminal with an Orange sim card. I can send sms to uk mobile phones but when I try to send MMS, although he application reports that "message sent" and the mobile phones get a notification of the MMS, an error always occur while the phone tries to download it. I have tried sending just text as mms and the result is the same. any ideas pple? what am i doing wrong?

Hi there

thats exactly where im getting as well ( same kit too, although im using Tesco - o2 sim)

I thought maybe it was the phone trying to download the message from now SMS , but even with an external IP address and the MMSC published its still not getting the message ( just says.. downloading )

Hi,

Please see http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm.

This will explain how MMS works, and basically if the phone is getting the notification, but can't retrieve the message, this means that either your MMSC is not accessible over the internet ("local host name or IP address" setting does not point to an external address for connecting to your NowSMS installation over the internet), or the mobile operator blocks MMS message delivery from external MMSCs.

In the UK, Orange does block message delivery from external MMSCs. O2 is open, but I'm not sure about the Tesco MVNO.

The link above explains this in more technical detail.

The only solution is to use "Multimedia WAP Push" as an alternative ... or configure NowSMS to send MMS messages via the operator MMSC over GPRS.

Additional information on this configuration option can be found here:

http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/mms_notifications_and_c ontent/Connecting_to_operator_MMSC.htm

And common operator settings can be found here:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/491.html

(Orange is on that list, but if a Tesco SIM is being used in a modem, I'm not sure what settings it would require.)
