Hi Bruce,
I am using the web interface which comes with the nowsms to send a text sms to a distribution list. This distribution list was created using the address book feature in the web interface.

I kept on encountering the following error msg towards the end of the distribution list.

ERROR - Modem Response (2): +CMS ERROR: 28

I have tried to stop/start the services, remove/add the GSM modem but nothing work. I need to reboot the PC inorder to resolve this problem.

Can you help?

thank you

david

Hi David,

There is a list of CMS error codes at the following link:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/829.html

Unfortunately, the description for error 28 is:

"Unidentified subscriber"
This cause indicates that the subscriber is not registered in the PLMN (i.e. IMSI not known).

Translating this to English, it means that the service provider doesn't know who you are.

I find it strange that a reboot would resolve this problem, unless sending a large number of messages is causing the modem firmware to have problems.

I would find it more likely that the mobile operator might have some controls implemented that would cut off someone who sends what they consider to be too many SMS messages. (I haven't heard any such tales, but it is a technical possibility.)

For information on the retry parameter settings, see the "RetryDelay" settings in http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/5972.html
