Dear Bryce We are using NowSMS v5.51k, and when I send Voice Mail Notification On/Off, either from web interface or using http command, I used to receive it on the target mobile as a 'Blank Text Msg' (I've tried Nokia and SE) Any idea what is wrong? thanks.

one more thing: even when I add & "&PID=64" to the http command, it will be received on the SMSC as PID=0000 is it a bug in V5.51k ? thanks

I know we made a lot of changes to the message waiting indicators (including voice mail notification) in NowSMS 2006. But these changes were primarily to support additional notification types and attributes (optionally including text in the notification, message waiting count). It sounds to me like your SMSC connection may not allow the DCS setting for a voice mail notification, and may be remapping it to text. I can confirm that NowSMS will ignore the PID= parameter for any message waiting indicator requests, and will always set it to 0. But it's the DCS value that is important (I'm not aware of the PID value being relevant to a message waiting indicator, but maybe I've missed reading about an option somewhere). Here's what I'd suggest trying ... Send a voice mail notification back to a GSM modem connected to NowSMS itself. NowSMS doesn't log the DCS value for inbound messages anywhere, but you can see the DCS in the raw message file that gets dumped into the SMS-IN directory (assuming no 2-way commands are defined). Compare that DCS value with the one that you see in SMSOUT-yyyymmd.LOG. I suspect that the SMSC connection you are using simply doesn't support that DCS value. -bn

Thanks Bryce, but what is the right DCS value for voice mail notification? is it 'DCS=E8'? best regards

The DCS varies. For a basic voicemail notification, C8 is for a notification with no text message (just turn the voice mail notification on). D8 is for a notification that includes text. E8 is for a notification that includes Unicode text. |
