That is because your phone must be configured with the appropriate MMS settings for the operator that is being used.

You need to change configuration settings on the phone to use the appropriate MMS settings for your mobile operator.

To determine how to change settings, you can find a manual for the GX10i at the following link:

http://213.249.206.60/europe/uk/downloads/downloads.asp?id=gx10i

You can find MMS settings for Orange at the following link:

http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html

Does it only happen when sending to an e-mail address? (i.e., is sending to another phone number ok?)

If you're having problems with sending any MMS messages, it sounds like MMS is not setup properly in the phone.

Assuming that you are on Vodafone in the UK, go to http://mmsota.vizzavi.co.uk to provision your GX10i for Vodafone Live settings.

If you are having problems with a ringtone purchased from a provider ... contact that provider for assistance.

Regarding connection errors, I really don't have any advice if your MMS settings have been configured properly. Try sending an MMS to your own phone number as a test to see if the problem is only when sending to e-mail addresses.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you take a phone configured for one mobile operator to another. There are configuration settings on the mobile phone that specify how to connect to WAP and MMS services ... and unfortunately these settings are all operator specific. A link that has settings for Orange WAP and MMS is:

http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html

A link to the Sharp GX20 manual is at the following link:

http://213.249.206.60/europe/uk/downloads/downloads.asp?id=gx20

But unfortunately, that's the only help I can offer.

And for the Vodafone poster, if the OTA doesn't work, then you have to enter settings manually. UK Vodafone settings can be found at the links that I provided above for Orange. The GX10i manual can be found at:

http://213.249.206.60/europe/uk/downloads/downloads.asp?id=gx10i

About the only other thing I can say is good luck. And you might want to try one of the various web-based forums where users help each other out on mobile phone issues ... such as http://www.howardforums.com and http://www.esato.com.

That's because the provider has locked it from forwarding. This is called Digital Rights Management (DRM), and it is intended to allow content providers to protect their intellectual property.

Jack,

This procedure is phone dependent (and it can also depend on whether or not your mobile operator supports MMS to e-mail ... most do, but a few don't).

I'd suggest you check your phone's manual. A link can be found earlier in this thread.

Or try one of the web discussion boards that are more oriented toward mobile phone users, such as www.esato.com or www.howardforums.com.

You have to enable MMS on your plan with your mobile operator (Vodafone).

This sounds like it may be an error generated by the phone itself, and not because of a network issue, but rather because the phone is not provisioned with any settings. Note that there are generally two places to configure settings, settings for the browser, and settings for the MMS client.

hi,

I brought a GX-10i off a friend and at first there was a little problem setting the volume on the phone so we tried resetting the phone, no effect, so then we tried a factory reset, since then the phone will not show any names to saved pictures withe camera, show the list of any calls in the call log, sending MMS(I think the above posts will help me in this regard), so has anybody got any ideas

i am generating the mms file using MMSCOMP tool

its working fine normally.
But when i use the -cCharset option the header gets distorted with the headers for subject,to,from getting missplaced.

how can i set the charset for the subject text to say: big5 and the charset for some textfile added to the message content to say: shift_jis

i want to have different textfiles with different charsets for each in one single mms message. and also the subject in some other charset.

how can i compile such an mms?
how can i got for it?
please do help me out. i will be greatfull to you.
thank you

Hi
I visited the vodafone site yesterday on http://wapota.vizzavi.co.uk and found out how to WAP enable my GX10i.

I followed the instructions and nothing happened at first but in the evening I got another WAP message, It was in hindsight, the same one as the first but this time it got through. I accessed it via vodafone live and after i closed it the folder had dissapeared.

Try it, it might do the trick for you too.

Cheers

Just to add to Keith's post
rather than have to wait for another wap message you can
go on vodafone live,
hit the call button,
Go to alert inbox,
erase message,

I have a sharp gx15 which I bought on vodaphone pay as you talk. I then put my sim card in it from my work phone (also vodaphone) and it works ok apart from the fact that i cannot send mms messages. ( I just get server connection error. ) Vodaphone told me that my employer will not allow mms messaging even though I pay for my calls and messages. Does anyone know of a way I can get round this so that I can send mms messages using my work sim or both work & pay as you go sim ? Thankyou.

I recently got a nokia 7250i unlocked in england, but use it in belgium. i went on this site to find out why my phone wouldn't send mms and went on the nokia link to order settings...it worked after that, but only to phones in belgium (otherwise it just said multimedia message sending failed when i tried to send mms to people in england)...is it because they dont work everseas or is it something to do with the fact i got my phone unlocked?

This is, unfortunately, quite normal ... most operators do not have cross-border agreements for MMS interoperability with each other.

In regards to the first message, Orange DOES SUPPORT MMS. You only need to give them a ring and ask them to enable the service (you'll get a sim update) and send you the settings (you'll get a browser message with the update).
And they'll probably credit you with 30 photo messages for free for a month to try the seervice. After that they cost 30p per message (50p if they are bigger than 50Kb).
Cheers.
ps. I've done it yesterday!

Hello, from my little experience...

You must put back the old SIM Card in the phone and make all changes in the MMS and SMS settings.

When finnish, remove the old SIM card and put the New one.

Contact the new mobile operator to insure that the service is active.

Then the service may be used.

(some Sharp doesnt allow the configuration when another operator SIM card is inserted, so restore the original, change the confg and try again)

Hi, Sharp GX10i - How to delete that mail with the 'W' (Wap Message). I'm using Orange, so voda live wont even work - no problem.
Goto Vodalive - Wait till it fails (or works) then select your menu key, and select 8) Alert Inbox. Read / Delete all messages in this section. When you exit back to the main menu - stupid W message has gone :-)

Hi I have a Sharp GX30 which I have unlocked from Vodafone. I can e-mail pictures to my computer and I can send and receive txts. However I cannot send or receive pictures. I have been given the settings from Virgin (my service provider) and tried to put them in myself. However I keep getting the msg "GPRS not available" when trying to get the internet, and nothing when trying to send/receive pics. Can anyone help?}

Please help!!! I have a sharp gx20 that was with vodafone but I got it unlocked and put an 02 sim card in it. The problem now is I have an annoying wap alert on my phone-so an envelope on my external screen that looks like I have an unread message and a globewith a red explanation mark over the top on the internal screen. But with it now being an 02 phone I cannot connect to vodafone live like some of the suggestions. I have tried everything on here to no avail!! I did have this problem a while ago and after about a week managed to resolve the problem but I can't remember how I did it!! Any suggestions welcome-mlgracey007@ntlworld.com

Hello,

I recently received an MMS message from vodafone live - when I tried to open it and download - it said my inbox was full so I needed to delete to make room. I deleted a few messages, but then realised the vodafone live message was quite big and I'd need to delete quite a lot to make room for it, which I didn't want to do. So I deleted the vodafone live message (although I never got to see it) but ever since, I've had the red envelope with the little picture on it stuck permanently on the top of my screen, although my inbox cannot be full, especially since I deleted the vodafone live message.

Anyone know what to do!??!

I am on O2 PAYG with a Nokia 6020. When I send a video clip message to a friend who's on Vodaphone, the message sends and the money is taken from my credit, but almost immediately I receive a message saying "Status: Rejected". He can receive ordinary photo messages from me but not video clips. I can also receive pictures and videos from him, and I can send video messages to other people without problem. Does this fault lie with my phone or his?
