Hi,

How can I possibly know the answer to your question?

I do not know what type of SMSC connection you are using.

I do not know what version of NowSMS you are running.

I do not know what error is being encountered when the "software stucks in sending SMS".

NowSMS will perform a limited number of retries if an error is encountered when sending an SMS message. Retry behaviour, and configuration settings related to retries, are described in the following article: http://www.nowsms.com/sms-retry-error-handling-with-ucpemi-and-cimd (If you are using a modem instead of a TCP-based SMSC connection, the same retry logic applies, there is just not a concept of "reject error codes".)

If you expect me to help you, you need to provide more information. At a minimum, I need to know the following:

1.) What type of SMSC connection are you using?

2.) What version of NowSMS are you running?

3.) What error conditions are you experiencing? Specifically, what error codes are being reported in the SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG file?

Please include a portion of this LOG file in your reply so that I can see the exact errors you are encountering. (Feel free to x out the phone numbers, but include message IDs so that I can verify your claim that the same retried messages are being processed over and over again.)

The modem is crashing.

Every time NowSMS tries to send a message, the modem responds back with "ERROR".

This could be because the modem firmware has crashed.

Or it is also possible that the mobile operator is applying some limits to the number of messages you are allowed to send during a certain time period, and they are refusing to allow more to be sent.

When the retry errors start occurring (a statistic that you can't really see in the old version of NowSMS you are running), you may want to try unplugging the modem and then plugging it back in to see if this allows it to recover.

If the problem is not that your mobile operator is limiting you, then:

1.) Newer versions of NowSMS automatically try to perform a software reset of the modem if it generates too many errors such as what is seen here. That might help if the problem you are experiencing is resolved by unplugging the modem and plugging it back in.

2.) Buy a new modem that doesn't crash when sending a large volume of messages.

3.) Are you processing received SMS messages or letting them build up? If you have not configured NowSMS to receive SMS messages from the modem, the modem's inbox may be getting overloaded causing the modem to run out of memory ... make sure that NowSMS is configured to receive SMS from the modem.

4.) You might be able to prevent the modem from crashing by slowing down the speed at which NowSMS sends message to the modem. (It has made a difference with some problem modems.) To do this, manually edit SMSGW.INI and under the [Modem - COM9:] header, add DelayAfterSend=1000. This setting tells NowSMS to avoid sending any commands to the modem for 1000 milliseconds (1 second) after submitting an SMS message.
