I acquired a M1206B wavecom GSM/GPRS modem. It came with a GSM antenna that can be plugged in, and a serial port connector cable. It had no power supply, instead it only had a power supply cable.

The cable has a 4-pin microfit connector on one side. This connector presumably goes into the modem. The other end just has 2 exposed wires (5 mm lenght, tinned copper wires).

What kind of a power supply do I have to buy, and what do I have to do to connect the modem to the power supply?

Thanks,
RN

Hi!

Red is positive, black's negative.

Wavecoms are sensitive to poorly stabilised power and tend to freeze if a PC power supplies are used. We use professional grade U.S.-made Lambda supplies.

Also, don't forget to ground your modem and the power supply.
