Hello,
Im in Canada and Im a bit confused with configuring the MMSC on my XP computer. Ive got a cable modem connection to the net. All I want to do is send a test jpg to my friends cell phone, using the command line through the Now gateway. He is using bell mobility in canada. How can I find out what their Gateway or MMSC setup is? Can I not simply send it to his cell number? What do I mave to enter for the MMSC?

Thanks

Hi EP,

NowSMS is a middleware solution. Without connectivity into the network (an SMS or MMS service provider or GSM modem), you cannot send any messages.

So, I do not think NowSMS is a solution for your requirements.

Because of differences in how SMS is billed in the US, most US operators have publicly accessible e-mail to SMS and MMS gateways. So you can just send to phonenumber@operator.specific.domain, and the message will get routed to the subscriber over SMS or MMS as appropriate.

(This is not the case in most of the rest of the world, because SMS and MMS are billed differently.)

Anyway, as Canada has some similarities to the US market, you should check the Bell Mobility web site, and you might be able to do what you want via e-mail.

In response to my last question;

So it appears that I have to setup an account with an operator in order to send mms messages with the Now systems to phones on their network?

If so, then do I need my own gateway or MMSC?

Also, is the command line utility to create MMS freeware or does it only come with this system?
