Hi, Does nowSMS support any configuration to restrict the number of messages that will be sent to any mobile number? We are looking for a feature where we can define the number of SMS that can be sent to the same mobile number in a defined interval (minutes). This need not be for any particular number that we want to define, but can be applied irrespective of the number. | |||

This need has arisen as one of the mobile operators to whom our customer has a SMPP connection has an additional check: if requests for more than 100 messages are received in 5 minutes on the same mobile number, their server is programmed to report a "Throttle Error" and terminate the session, though the contracted throttle has not been exceeded. They accept that though the Throttle Error is reported it is really a "Flooding Error". They claim that this is done to protect the customer from flooding the link with messages that would result in high charges. They are unwilling to make changes to distinguish this Flooding Error from a Throttle Error. I am presuming that it is because the software is provided by a vendor and the operator has limits on the control over the software customisation. We are considering if a setting on the nowSMS server at the customer premises can detect such a situation in advance and we can take some corrective action, before the operator recognizes a Flooding Error. |
