Recently, I have been developing a program that can send and receive sms with cdma modem. This program based on web, with apache, php and mysql. I have bought cdma modem from netac, www.netac.com: A840.

Before I had succeed this program. But I use gsm modem like itegno or wavecom. I used gateway with kannel, or nowsms.

But, with cdma modem, I have trouble to find a gateway like that. Kannel can not support cdma modem.

Nowsms can support this modem ?
Or do you have suggest or solution about this ?

Hi,

I don't have any experience with that particular modem. But NowSMS v5.51b and later does have support for CDMA modems that provide limited emulation of the GSM modem interface. (See the "What's New" section of the web site for a link to v5.51b, as it is not in the standard download at this time.)

It's been tried with the Multitech CDMA modem, which uses a Wavecom chipset.

I've browsed the web site of the vendor that you mentioned above, and I don't see any technical manuals on their CDMA modem, so I can't tell you whether or not it will work.

Thank you Bruce,

Actually I have been used latest nowsms for this modem. But the modem could not work. Multitech modem is difficult to find in Indonesia, my location.

And of course I have been send email to netech for this problem. I have asked about at command in netac too. But until now, I do not response from netac. Modem netac is more popular in Indonesua than any modem.

Again, thank you for your response.

Many of the CDMA modems don't actually have any support for sending/receiving SMS. They are made available primarily to support wireless data applications.

So that's why it's good to try to get tech manuals to refer to. So far the only one that I've seen with support is the Multitech ... but I understand that modem is based upon the Wavecom chipset, so perhaps there may be other CDMA modem vendors using a Wavecom chipset. (I haven't seen any Wavecom branded CDMA modems, they seem to only be doing the chipset in this case.)
