Could we keep a list of these. Cingular does not, which is surprising. Can anyone confirm T-Mobile?

Hi Daniel, Unfortunately, in the US ... this seems to be a "regional" issue. I've had scattered reports where T-Mobile supports it in some regions, and not in others. For example, one person posted that they tried in New York on T-Mobile and it was not supported ... but they tried again in Baltimore and it was. SMS over GPRS works at a lower layer than IP ... with the device interfacing to the local SGSN, which is why it can be a regional issue. -bn

Thanks Bryce, that's interesting. I don't suppose there's any way to find out what regions support it without subscribing to T-mobile and trying it, is there? I'm in the Dallas area. I'm pretty sure if I call customer service they will have no idea what I'm inquiring about.

Hi Daniel, I wish I knew a way. It's one of those specialised issues that is hard to figure out. I know that Cingular has a 30-day return policy, but I don't know what T-Mobile's policy is. A quick web search returns some conflicting results ... some resellers say that T-Mobile has a 14-day "no questions asked" return policy. But I did see one site that mentioned it was a 14-day return policy on the equipment, but that you only had 72 hours to cancel the service. Visiting a retail outlet to go over this policy might be a good idea. -bn |
