Hello, I'm using NowSMS/ MMS Gateway Version 2006.03.09. I tried to send an EMS from the web interface to a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone. Based on the documentation, I added the following registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SMS\TextShared DWORD : EMSHandlerInstalled = 1 When I send a EMS Message from the Web Interface to my device, I don't see any emoticons that I had inserted or any formatting of the text that I had made when I view this message on the device Your help in this regard is much appreciated Thanks | |||

Hi, The first thing that I would suggest is that you try sending an EMS message to a device that is known to support EMS. (For example, a SonyEricsson or Motorola phone.) If you send an EMS to a phone that doesn't support it, basically you only get the text of the message, and the EMS attributes are ignored. I don't have any experience in enabling EMS on a Windows Mobile 5.0 smart phone. My suspicion is that an EMS message was sent by NowSMS, but the registry entry that you applied did not actually enable EMS on the device. And I can't offer any suggestions for how to enable EMS on that device ... based upon what I read on MSDN, it is more involved than just applying a registry key ... you need to install some additional software. I found some more discussion about this at the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/googleidx.php?t=19757 It looks like that discussion is talking more about previous versions of Windows Mobile ... but I am suspicious about the text in MSDN at the following link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/apisp/html/sp__mdref_enabling_enhanced_m essaging_service_ems_processing_.asp?frame=true ... because it talks about registering a COM component GUID by making this registry entry ... and I believe registering a COM component GUID would be more involved than this. |
