At that point in time, it is likely that the message has yet to make it to the MMSC. The phone talks to an MMSC via a WAP gateway. The message is transferred in its entirety to the WAP gateway before the WAP gateway transmits the message to the MMSC.

What WAP gateway are you connecting via?

Does it happen with all messages that you send, regardless of size?

Is there an entry in the MMSC log corresponding to your send attempt? (MMSC-yyyymmdd.LOG)

Can you try sending a smaller text only MMS message?

It is also possible that the WAP gateway through which you are connecting does not allow connections to the MMSC address that you entered. (Many operator WAP gateways only support connections to content servers on port 80. And with some operators, their default MMS connection settings point to a WAP gateway that only allows connections to the MMSC.)

Hi,

Since you're connecting to a gateway in our office, let me know the approximate times of your connection attempts, and we will investigate.

Hi there,
Im trying out your trial version with a P800 and I'm getting the exact same error message. When using a small text only MMS message, it will send flawlessly but when I add a picture for instance I get the message "An error occured in the communication with the server".
And when this happens, nothing shows up in the logs, but according to my firewall a connection was established for a short while.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?

If you're seeing something come in through the firewall, it might be interesting to see if that is a request to the MMSC.

To enable debug mode in the MMSC, edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] section header, add Debug=Yes. Then restart the service.

In the MMSCDEBUG.LOG, the MMSC will log any packets that it receives. So it would be interesting to see if there is something there.

However, this type of problem generally points to a WAP gateway issue where the WAP gateway is having a problem with SAR (segmentation and re-assembly).

If you can repeat the problem with a connection to our WAP gateway at 213.48.20.10, we could look at our gateway logs to see what is going on.

Unfortunately, if its another WAP gateway there's nothing we can do ... unless something interesting does appear in the MMSCDEBUG.LOG.
