Dear all, i'm new to NowSMS and would like help with the following: -Is it possible to have NowSMS somehow store all incoming traffic directly into a Database rather than forward it as a URL call? -is it possible to assign custom names to SMSC connections? i have multiple accounts on the same SMSC, and the automatically generated names like SMPP - x.x.x.x:2775 and SMPP - x.x.x.x:2775#2 aren't so user friendly. -can i send a message by specifying which connection to use, rather than rely on NowSMS figuring that out based on the destination number and intelligent routing? -does NowSMS keep a record of Multimedia content downloaded through the WAP portal? i'd like to know for billing and statistical related purposes. -How can i send a Service Type/Cost tag along with a n SMS message? what's the URL paramater? -How can i send a unicode/CP1256 (i.e: Arabic) SMS message? -How would a unicode arabic SMS message look like when received by NowSMS? (URL params and their values) -Does NowSMS handle SMS delivery reports? where would these go, and how can i determine if a sent message was delivered, expired, etc? -Does NowSMS keep track of all sent/received messages somewhere? any help would be really appreciated. thanks in advance! | ||||

Hello, I'll try to help as i can. -Is it possible to have NowSMS somehow store all incoming traffic directly into a Database rather than forward it as a URL call? I'm executing a script like the one attached.
-How can i send a unicode/CP1256 (i.e: Arabic) SMS message? if from the internal script just type Arabic instead of english and NOWSMS will deal with it. if calling a url just urlencode the atabic charachters. -How would a unicode arabic SMS message look like when received by NowSMS? (URL params and their values) as i sayed previously: if calling a url just urlencode the atabic charachters and NOWSMS will recognize it. -Does NowSMS handle SMS delivery reports? where would these go, and how can i determine if a sent message was delivered, expired, etc? if routing incoming to a user called alaqeel you'll find it in: C:\Program Files\NowSMS\USERS\alaqeel\Q -Does NowSMS keep track of all sent/received messages somewhere? All messages can be find in: 1- SMSIN-dd-mm-yy.log 2- SMSOUT-dd-mm-yy.log 3- SMSWEB-dd-mm-yy.log in the root of NOWSMS directory. you can spacify where to put the log files in SMSGW.ini file use the serial# tap to enable logging. This is as i can remember from the manual. if you read the manuall y'll find all answers in details. | ||||

Thanks for the response alaqeel. Reference to receiving arabic messages, what i meant was, suppose a user sent an arabic MO message.. what would the parameter value of @@SMS@@ and @@FULLSMS@@ be? also, is there any other URL parameter indicating the message is not plain english ASCII (makes it easy to determine message languages without parsing the body) as for the delivery reports going to the queue directory.. i'm not sure how i could use that to track message delivery status.. the only thing i can think off is to write code that would constantly monitor the incoming queue directory and parse the DR files created there. while it would have been far more convenient if NowSMS had the option to call a URL handler for Delivery Reports similar to how it handles MO messages. i did go through most of the SMS chapters in the manual.. didn't find much detail on delivery report and unicode messaging :S | ||||

A lot depends on the specifics of your configuration. However, if you are submitting messages into NowSMS via HTTP, and requesting a delivery receipt. Those delivery receipts will come back in as received messages, and they can be routed to the 2-way command processing logic for processing, so that you can receive an HTTP callback. In most environments, the receipt text starts with "id:", and the original message id can be found in the @@RECEIPTMESSAGEID@@ variable. -- Malcolm Now Wireless Support | ||||
