Hi,

I am facing a small problem with class 2 SMS not being delivered to SIM directly in some cases. If I send a class 2 SMS when the mobile is switched off and when again the mobile is switched on, the SMS gets delivered as normal text message to inbox. But when the mobile is in active state and a class 2 SMS is sent it gets delivered to the SIM.

Can someone please explain this behavious pls? Is it anywhere related to Now SMS settings?

Thanks,
Dhanya.

Hi Dhanya,

There is no setting in NowSMS that would affect this.

It may be an issue with the SMSC or service provider that you are interfacing with. If delivery cannot be performed immediately, they may be queueing the message for later delivery but not preserving the DCS setting that indicates class 2.

It might also be a bug/quirk in the device, but I'd lean more to the above explanation.

The only thing I could suggest would be to try sending the messages to a GSM modem device instead of a phone ... see if you see the same behaviour there, and if the DCS is changed in the received message when the SMS is delivered after the modem being switched off for some period.
