Hi, What could be the possible cause(s) of SMSC not getting responds from external application that it keeps retrying giving duplicate sms? What is the acceptable internet link speed (Kbps) for good SMPP connectivity?

Hi,

Is this relating to NowSMS or some other software?

With NowSMS, my first thought would be that if you have async mode (windowing) enabled under advanced options for the connection, then you might want to consider turning that setting off (which is the default setting). Some service provider SMS implementations may have trouble with async mode.

For other software ... improper handling of enquire_link packets (a sort of "keep alive") could be an issue. Or if the connection is a transceiver (capable of both sending and receiving), the software might get confused if it is receiving a message while it is trying to send.

Internet connection speed itself shouldn't be a major factor, because you're transferring relatively small amounts of data in an SMS message.

The default SMPP timeout in NowSMS is 120 seconds, which is quite generous.
