Hi, Thanks for reading my post My problem is like this: I installed 60 days trial version days before, and it can recongnize my Motorola E6 successfully. But today, I uninstall and re-install the trial version, my gateway keeps telling 'Modem doesn't support SMS', meanwhile I didn't change any setting in the phone, so I can't connect a modem... Could anybody help me out? I will be very appreciated!! Thanks a lot~~ Ning

Hi Ning, Are you sure you are connecting to the modem via the correct COM port? Is there a chance that perhaps the SIM card in the modem has a PIN configured? Some modems will return unexpected error responses to the commands that we use to test for SMS support if there is a PIN configured for the SIM. So you might want to put the SIM card into a phone can confirm that there is not a PIN. If you think that a modem supports SMS, but NowSMS is reporting an error, then you can try issuing the following commands to the modem manually via HyperTerminal (usually installed under Programs/Accessories/Communications in Windows XP ... but unfortunately not included with Windows Vista): AT+CSMS=0 AT+CSMS=1 AT+CSMS=128 AT+CSMS? An "OK" response to one of the first two commands, or a "+CSMS:" response to the third, is generally enough to get past the test which causes NowSMS to report "Modem does not support SMS". What response do you see to these commands? -- Des NowSMS Support

P.S. - If you are using Windows Vista, then unfortunately, there's no good alternative for HyperTerminal under Windows Vista. When in a bind, I've used the trial version of Absolute Telnet, which you can find at http://www.celestialsoftware.net/telnet/. When using Absolute Telnet, you need to go into "Options/Properties/Connection", and configure the COM port under "Direct to COM". Then use "File/Connect" to connect to the modem so that you can send commands to it. |
