How frequently does the gateway poll for incoming SMS messages? I have noticed that sometimes the gateway doesn't detect newly arrived messages until a few seconds after my modem receives the message. Is there a configuration file that can be used to adjust the frequency at which the gateway polls the SIM for incoming messages? | |||

Beginning with v5.01, the default behaviour of NowSMS is to tell the modem to bypass storing messages on the SIM (or modem memory), and route them directly over the serial link. (Most phone modems do not support this, but many dedicated GSM modem devices do.) Unless the modem is busy sending outbound messages, we poll once a second. When the 2-way facility is used, there can be another one second delay between polling of the received messages queue. We could look at adjusting these settings if necessary for a particular application, but we thought 2 seconds was reasonable, especially as other activities could be occurring simultaneously. If you want to e-mail me at nowsms@now.co.uk and tell me a little bit more about your need to reduce these delays, I'll see what we can do. -bn |
