We've been having problems with every phone now and then. We have tested NowSMS with Nokia 6320, Siemens C45 and Wavecom, but most of the times NowSMS cannot recognize the modem (while the sincronization utilities that you get with the phones do), sometimes NowSMS collapses with a message like 'This program has run a invalid operation and it will close'.

Have you ever experienced this?

Hi Carlos,

No, I don't have any experience with such errors.

Perhaps you have a corrupt installation of NowSMS? It may be worth redownloading and performing a re-install.

We already did that, but nothing changed. We have checked it in some different PCs and some of them recognized the phones at first try, others need more tries and restarts, and others never get the connection or show the "...it will close" message.

Other computers detect the phone after several tries, and NowSMS starts working fine, but some hours later NowSMS accepts mail through the http server but never actually sends them.

May you explain log files and what is each log file for ? (just to try to locate additional information into those files).

Carlos,

I wonder if there is some virus scanner or some other common software running on the systems that you are trying ... which is somehow related to this problem.

I did think of one situation where I've seen this "illegal operation" in the past. It was on a Windows NT 4.0 platform, where RAS was not properly configured. Any attempt to query RAS connections would trigger an illegal operation. But RAS is only queried when you are using the MMS over GPRS functions, and it doesn't sound like you have gotten that far.

You can enable the debug log for the service, but not for the configuration program (and it sounds like the configuration program is what is having a problem).

To enable the debug log, manually edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add Debug=Yes. Restart the NowSMS SMS Gateway service. It will produce an SMSDEBUG.LOG as it runs, which will hopefully provide some clues for any problems that are occurring while the service is running.
