Dear Bryce
Thx for your cooperation with us in handling the FIXED local port problem..
now we face another problem
we enabled the Web- Interface option
so that we can receive SMS messages on our machine from our remote users - by Authorization -
The authorization works fine with the log in window.
but when we try to embed the username and password in the URL the page fails to load
The URL we used is: http://username:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80/
it is clear from the URL that we use the port 80, we stopped the IIS service so that they do not Interrupt each other.
we didnot faced this problem with the NowSMS ver 5
NOW we use 5.5 ver,
so plz can u help us with this problem
thanks in advance ffor your caring
Sincerely
Eng. George

George,

Sorry for the delay responding to your message. I have not had time to respond to all messages promptly this week, and I apologise.

However, that said, I don't understand your question.

Are you using the above referenced link in a "2-way command" or other? Can you please explain in more detail? It would also help to see an SMSDEBUG.LOG to better understand what you are attempting.

From a 2-way command, this syntax will work, however Internet Explorer will not accept this format correctly in a standard URL link. (Technically, this "username:password@" prefix is a standard for FTP URLs, but we also decided to implement this format for HTTP URLs from the 2-way command syntax so that we had a way of specifying the "Authorization:" header.)

George,

I don't think the version of NowSMS has anything to do with this.

In my experience, Internet Explorer 6 (and probably earlier versions as well) does not support this type of URL syntax for passing authentication to an HTTP URL.

But it does work with Netscape. (And it works as a 2-way command in NowSMS.)

When I try the URL syntax with Internet Explorer, IE does not even attempt to make a connection to the NowSMS server.

Do you still have v5.0 to attempt a re-install? If you do not, I can e-mail it to you, but I do not think it will make a difference as it is a function of the web browser to parse the URL.
