Hello,

I am successfully using my nowsms software.

I currently have 3 gsm modem installed and want to install 3 more but i cannot. Software always tells me that device is in use or unable to access modem ensure that it is powered on and passes diagnostic tests.

This does not only happen on nowsms add gsm modem, but also from the software of the gsm modem as well

What is accessing the modems?

This is not the first time i see this behavior but after trying few times and a few restarts i was able to add the modem to now sms.

I am using latest version of now sms

Thanks in advance

Hi Dinos,

If the modems are all of the same brand, it may be a limitation of their driver software. I'd suggest shutting down NowSMS and testing all of the modems in the Windows Control Panel/Phone & Modem Options/Modems/Diagnostics.

Also look at the COM port assignments, and check to make sure that there are not drivers assigned to duplicate port numbers because the modem software was not expecting so many instances of the same modem.

Check the System/Devices area in the Windows Control Panel too. I don't have anything specific for you to check there ... just look for errors. One problem that you can run into with USB modems is power. Typically each USB modem draws 500mA, which is the max for a port, but some hubs have overall power limits for all ports on a particular USB hub.
