Dear Sir/Madam,

I download nowsms gateway software.

I got a connection from etisalat (telco in united Arab Emirates) for a short code service to receive messages sent by users.

I received following settings from etisalat.

Short code
user name
password
SMSCIP = 86.96.240.20
TCP port = 10000
Souce TUN = 0
Source NPI = 0
Interface verion = 34 in hexadecimal (which is equivalent to 52 in decimal)

I opned nowsmsgateway --> Add --> SMPP over TCP/IP --> then all parameters in the software and also in Advanced settings I put Source TUN and NPI.

After clicking on Ok, I receive error message
"Unable to connect to SMPP server at 869.96.240.20:10000"

I contacted telco and they said it's working fine.

could you please guide me what can be the reason ?

Hi,

This is a TCP level connection issue. Basically NowSMS never gets as far as trying to send a username or any other parameters, as it cannot establish a TCP/IP connection to the other server.

This means one of two things:

1.) A firewall issue of some kind ... either on your end or on the provider end. Many providers need to configure the source IP address from which you are connecting into their firewall in order to allow you access.

I am unable to connect to the IP address and port that you specify, so make sure they have the correct address configured to allow you to connect to them.

2.) Also double check for a typo in the IP address or port. In your message, there is an extra 9 in the address that appears in the error msg, but that could just be a typo from your retyping the error message here ... not a typo in your configuration.
