Hi.. I want to konw the SMS Class 3 type. When I send a message checked the class 3, does the message is stored to the mobile phone and simcard? If not the message is stored to the external device such as SD card? What is true? | |||

Hi Johnny, It doesn't really mean much of anything. The SMS specifications that defined these message classes goes back 20 years, before anybody imagined a mobile phone with an SD card. When the specifications refer to an external device, they are thinking about a computer device connected to a modem, not a removable storage device. (I would argue that an SD card is not an external device, it is a removable storage device.) A computer device connected to the modem can send commands to ask to only receive class 3 messages ... telling the modem to push class 3 messages directly to the device without storing them in the modem first. (It can also ask for all messages to be pushed directly to the device without storing them in the modem first.) All in all, in the real world, SMS message class 3 doesn't mean much of anything. -- Des NowSMS Support |
