Hi,
I have a license for 1 message per second, but I notice that my system sends only 30 messages per minute.
For example I have 5000 messages in the queue and I see in the SMSOUT*.log that only sends 30 msgs in 30 seconds waits for 30 seconds and starts again!!
Any ideas about this issue?

Hi,

Apologies for the extreme delay in response.

Can you give me an example of these timings recorded in the SMSOUT log?

When it waits 30 seconds, is it always until the seconds counter is :00 again?

Is this an SMPP connection with async mode enabled? (Multiple connections?)

Is there a single serial number installed or multiple serial numbers?

What version of NowSMS and what version of Windows?

Is this a newly installed installation? It almost sounds like the system is running in trial mode and cannot find the serial number.

If this is the case:

Open a command prompt window and change to the root directory of your volume, and issue the command DIR SMSGW.INI /S

I suspect this will report multiple copies of the file.

In Windows 7, it is normal to see it in \ProgramData\NowSMS and \Users\All Users\NowSMS (these are aliases for the same directory).

However, if you see a NowSMS directory under any other user accounts, delete that directory.

If problems persist, try running the NowSMS configuration program with administrative rights enabled. I suspect the problem is that the configuration program is unable to save the serial number in the directory that the system service expects.

Hi,
My apologies for the extreme delay!
I upload a sample smsout.log showing the times.
it is an smpp connection with async enable 10 messages per window.
My installation Reference code is 40199BCD.
SMS now version is v2009.07.09 and OS is windows 2003 Standard edition SP2.
it is an old installation that is working for a couple of years.
What I notice is that this problem occurred in a specific date and after that the system is working as expected.
The question now is why this happened especially this day where the load was much more than any other day?

Best Regards

Hi,

It is difficult to determine why this would have happened, especially as it seems to have corrected itself.

Based upon the log file, it does appear that the system reverted to a 30 message per minute license. Such a license would display timings exactly like you observed.

I have discussed this with some of my colleagues earlier today, and will discuss again with more colleagues at our next technical/engineering meeting. But so far, no one has any ideas of what could cause this, and no recollection of seeing this happen before.

There is a SERIAL.INI file in the NowSMS directory. It is marked as a hidden file. Perhaps if some other software had this file held open when the NowSMS software queries it, this could cause some confusion about the license limit. That said, the file is marked read-only, so another program should not be able to open it in an exclusive way that prevents NowSMS from accessing it.

That is the only idea that we have, but it seems VERY unlikely that this would be the source of a problem.
