Hi,

Is your problem specific to 2-way SMS responses, or do the delays also happen when sending multiple messages quickly from the web interface?

If it only happens with 2-way SMS, then it sounds like there is an issue with how the command signals that it is complete. To troubleshoot this, I would suggest enabling the SMSDEBUG.LOG. Send a message in to the 2-way command, and share the SMSDEBUG.LOG so that I can better advise.

If it is happening with all messages, is this a purchased version or a trial version? If purchased, you may have been issued a corrupt license. Contact our sales team and they will fix the error. If this is a trial, was it downloaded from our web site? There are other web sites that publish so-called free or crack versions, which often exhibit this problem. In this case, you may need to uninstall, then reinstall using the download link at this web site. http://www.nowsms.com/download-free-trial

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Does this error condition automatically resolve itself and then reoccur?

The error message indicates that NowSMS cannot open a connection to the modem.

This could happen if other software is trying to use the modem. For example, if there is any D-Link modem manager software enabled, make sure that software is not configured to automatically initiate a data connection. That can prevent NowSMS from being able to access the modem.

The problem could also be triggered by problems in the modem software or firmware. Check the modem manufacturer web site for updated software drivers and/or firmware.

I'd also recommend trying an updated version of NowSMS at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms20130531.zip. This updated version does slow down modem communication slightly, which has resolved some problems with a few modems.

When a modem becomes unresponsive, NowSMS will try to reset the modem, but often with USB modems, the only solution is to physically remove and reinsert the modem, or to reboot the PC. NowSMS does have a modem configuration option to reboot the PC if a modem is not accessible. This is a last resort option, but worth enabling if a modem fails every several days.

That is general advice ...

In your specific situation, I would want to know if this error seems to resolve itself automatically on your system, or if there is some pattern to the problem.

Also, what is the specific modem that you are using?

Hi,

Your license key remains valid.

I recommend that you do NOT uninstall first. Just install the update and it will keep all your existing configuration settings.

If you do uninstall, you might need to reapply your license key and reconfigure the system.

Over the years, I've seen good reliability with Option ICON modems (225 and 322 particularly good, although some carrier versions of the 225 require an extra step to configure). Huawei modems are also quite reliable once configured (the Huawei software must be running and configured to leave received messages on the SIM). The primary problem with Huawei modems is that there have been more than 100 different models, so it is hard to recommend specific.

Avoid any modems with built-in hotspot or WiFi functionality, too many bells & whistles get in the way of basic functionality.

I am curious what D-Link modem you have ... is it a model with WiFi and/or Ethernet ports?
