Hi,

I am using 2 different Android phones as SMSC connections to send SMS to a other handsets.
I've managed to setup the whole communication and I am able to send both SMS snd MMS. However, I've observed that setting the "Class" parameter has no effect (at apparently) on the SMS sent.
My goal was to test the reception of Class 0 and Class 2 SMS in a certain device, but it seems that when using any of the 2 Android devices I have, I'm not capable of sending specific SMS (setting "class 0" for instance has no effect, the SMS arrives as standard SMS).

Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Unfortunately, that is mostly correct. Android does not provide support for sending messages with class attributes, or for any binary message formats other than MMS.

There are 2 exceptions to this:

HTC phones (except CDMA models) running regular HTC firmware support an additional API that provides full SMS support. NowSMS will automatically detect this and support binary messages and message class attributes when sending through those devices.

For other phones, if they can be unlocked and rooted, a framework can be loaded to enable full SMS sending support, and there is a configuration parameter that needs to be set in NowSMS to enable its use.
