Hello Support. Can you provide more information regarding the following details around the SharedVolume.ini file and other configuration files. SHAREDVOLUME.INI 1) LogDirectory, DebugLogDirectory can these be placed in a shared directory volume? 2) Do we need the local SMSGW.INI or MMSC.INI if we are using SHAREDVOLUME.INI in its entirety? Should we delete it from the install dir seeing as it is copied to sharedvolume - for a clustered setup? 3) If we have local SMSGW.INI and SHAREDVOLUME.INI is there a preference order on how the config is applied? What happens in the event of conflicting config? 4) I assume that we should keep copies of all the shared config and User DB files. Can you specifically list which files/directories we should backup? Many Thanks Jose | |||

Hi Jose, 1. Yes, but here are some recommendations. DebugLogDirectory will default to a local volume, which is probably best. If a shared directory is used, it should be unique to that server (not shared with other servers. LogDirectory can be the same shared directory for multiple servers, but if it is, LogFilenamePrefix=xx should be used, where xx will be applied as a unique prefix for the log files for this server. (LogFilenamePrefix was new to 2018.10.01, and is only documented in the readme.) On a similar note, MessageIDPrefix=xx should be used so that multiple servers do not assign the same message IDs. (This also helps with message ID tracking performance as each front end will then only write to one tracking file, but will read from all.) 2. Do not have a local copy, as there is potential for this to cause confusion. 3. When SHAREDVOLUME.INI is present, the local SMSGW.INI should be ignored. 4. The bottom of this page documents files and directories: https://www.nowsms.com/migrating-to-a-multiple-server-mmsc-wap-gateway-or-nowsms -gateway -- Des NowSMS Support |
