Hi It is planned to upgrade server OS from Windows 2008 to 2012. NowSMS version running on it is 2015.06.24. Will the server OS upgrade have any impact on the existing valid NowSMS license or otherwise on the NowSMS application? Mathew | |||

Hi Mathew, I would not expect any issues. One issue we sporadically see is the services getting stuck after an OS upgrade. If this happens, and the services are not responding and refuse to stop, it may be necessary to use Windows task manager to kill one or more of these processes: mmcnt.exe, mmsc.exe, smsgwnt.exe, smsgws.exe If you encounter this problem, in NowSMS, uncheck the “run as service” buttons to remove the services. Then check “run as service” to re-install the services. To avoid this potential issue, before upgrading the OS, uncheck the “run as service” buttons to remove the services.
