I'm using a Wavecom Fastrack M1306B GSM Modem with Nowsms. I have used the Standard 56000 bps modem driver to install it in Windows. I can successfully query the modem in control panel and it replies an ATZ command in HyperTerminal too. However when I try to add the modem in Nowsms, it says "modem does not support SMS". Is it that using the standard modem driver has caused this problem? The modem comes with no drivers and I've seen recommendations on the net on using the standard modem driver for fastrack modems. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In Hyperterminal, what happens if you issue these commands:

AT+CSMS=0
AT+CMGF=0

Do they report OK?

Is it possible that you have a built-in modem in the PC that you are using, and the driver is pointing to its COM port instead of the Wavecom?

Another issue that I have seen with some modems is that if there is a PIN configured on the SIM, they will not respond OK to these commands. Normally you can tell NowSMS to send the PIN, but in some cases that might not work and a better solution is to remove the PIN, at least to confirm whether or not it is a problem.
