Hi, NowSMS indicates that it received 2 messages. Those messages are automatically deleted after a 2-way command is processed ... but you will see a record of those messages in the SMSIN-yyyymmdd.LOG. If more than 2 messages were sent to the modem and those messages are seen in the modem software ... this indicates that the modem software is removing the messages from the modem before NowSMS can get them. Check the modem software settings and look for an option to tell that software to keep received messages on the SIM card. -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi, If "Command returns response text" is checked/enabled in the 2-way SMS command definition, this means that NowSMS is expecting a text response back from the command. If it does not receive a text response, it generates the error message "Command not completed. Request returned invalid content type: text/html". The solution is either to Uncheck that setting, or make sure that the PHP script returns a content-type header of "text/plain" to indicate that the response is in text format. If the command indicates text/plain content, it can return a blank response to indicate no response should be sent ... but the "text/plain" header must be set. For PHP, you can indicate this content type by starting the PHP script with this sequence: <?php header ("Content-Type: text/plain"); Or, if you will never return a response, edit the 2-way command and Uncheck "Command returns response text". -- Des NowSMS Support

I have an issue with 2-way and inbox. I have noticed that once an auto reply is configured and I also select a user to see the SMS coming in ("Route SMS to local user") from the Web-Interface...the "Auto Reply" do not work. If I disable "Route SMS to local user", then the "auto reply" works fine. I need the user to "View" the messages sent to a modem and to also have an "auto reply" sent back the sender. Currently this is not possible,..WHY IS THIS??
Des - NowSMS Support Board Administrator Username: Desosms Post Number: 4751 Registered: 08-2008 |
Question from SMSCOMM is answered here: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/12/72057.html For the main question, if you Uncheck "Command returns response text", then it is impossible for this error message: "Command not completed. Request returned invalid content type: text/html". Maybe you made the change to uncheck, but didn't save it? (Highlight command, press Edit, uncheck setting, press Add, then YES to replace ... AND FINALLY Apply to save change. header ("Content-Type: text/plain"); will not make a difference because you are using an HTTP redirect and that command is the one returning a response. -- Des NowSMS Support

I understand that you are frustrated. I am too, because I am not sure what the question is that you are asking. What I am saying is that if you UNcheck "Command returns response text" in the 2-way command definition, then it is impossible for this error message to occur: "Command not completed. Request returned invalid content type: text/html". So if you are seeing this error still, the setting has not been changed. (In the 2way configuration ... Highlight command, press Edit, uncheck setting, press Add, then YES to replace ... AND FINALLY Apply to save change.) But now I am not sure that is what you want. You say:
If you want to auto reply, there are three ways to do this. 1.) Return the response text directly from the PHP script. a.) Check "Command returns response text". b.) Include at the top of the PHP script a content type declaration like this: <?php header ("Content-Type: text/plain"); c.) Specify the text to be sent back as a reply as output of the PHP script. For example using the echo command: echo "Nilai Try Out NIS" . $nis . " : BIG " . $big . ", MTK " . $mtk . ", SAINS " . $sains; 2.) Have the PHP script generate a new HTTP request back to NowSMS to send a message via HTTP redirect/location response (Can be a reply back to sender, or can be SMS to anyone, not necessarily a reply.) To do this: a.) UNCheck "Command returns response text". b.) Build a valid URL for connecting to NowSMS and sending a message, and return that URL via a redirect response (Location: header). We do not recommend this approach for most people because it is difficult. Your PHP script is probably not returning the URL you expect ... the SMSDEBUG.LOG will show you what URL was sent back to NowSMS and you can try it manually with a web browser to see what is wrong with it. Most likely no message is being sent because &Username=xxx&Password=xxx parameters are needed. Instead of using this technique, use #1 or #3. 3.) Have the PHP script generate a new HTTP request back to NowSMS to send a message (Can be a reply back to sender, or can be one or more SMS to anyone, not necessarily a reply.) To do this: a.) UNCheck "Command returns response text". b.) Use the SendSMS PHP function to send your SMS message(s). See http://www.nowsms.com/nowsms-php-example-send-sms-text-message -- Des NowSMS Support |
