Hi Support,

Currently, our Wap Gateway presents the following profile:

-Hardware: DELL Power Edge 1850
XEON CPU 3.0GHz
2.99GHz
2.50GB of RAM

- WAP version v2010.02.01

- License is 350 concurrent sessions.

We would like to know what would be the limitations in terms of volume,
throughput and even performance for those servers. Those information will be
very useful to us specially if we have to implement new projects that would
require high resource usage. Your assistance on this matter will be more than
appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Randy,

Can you clarify the processor configuration for me. Is that a dual core Xeon, or single core Xeon?

Is that one CPU or two (I'm confused about the reference to 3.0Ghz, then 2.99Ghz)?

Maybe a quick way to answer this question ... if you press Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up the task manager and look at processor utilisation, how many processors are shown?

Sorry for all the questions. Worst case scenario for answers to my questions, I would expect that machine to handle 2000 concurrent sessions without any problem. (It may be able to handle more depending on number of processor cores.)

Hi Des,

Thank you for your quick response and sorry for the confusion.

The server has a dual core (Xeon)CPU 3.0Ghz.

Please what would be the limitations in terms of volume, throughput and even performance for those servers.

Thank you,
Randy

Hi Des,

And also you have said that "I would expect that machine to handle 2000 concurrent sessions without any problem."

That 2000 concurrent sessions you are saying will also depend on the license installed? I meant that we have to purchase License for 2000 active user? Am I correct?

Thank you,
Randy

Sorry for the delay Randy.

Yes, you would require a 2000 concurrent session license.

A dual core Xeon and 2.5GB of memory will provide good performance for up to around 2000 concurrent sessions. If you want to support 2000 concurrent sessions, we start recommending a quad core, or two dual core processors, and bumping the memory to 4GB.
