Hello... I have installed WAP proxy and conneted to my GPRS network in order to provide quicker access to mobiles phones using EDGE. After installing and configuring now SMS, I can see it does something and the web pages get loaded on the mobiles, but I do not notice an improvement in the access speed on the mobiles. Will now.wap actually compress any HTTP message? will it work for all types of phones? how can I debug what now.wap is doing in order to determine if compression is taking place? | |||

Hi Diego, There are many factors that can influence speed. For example, network latency may be a bigger factor than page size. You'd have to use a packet capture tool like WireShark if you wanted to analyse compression before. Note that NowWAP only performs compression of web pages when the WAP2/HTTP proxy interface is being used. If the WAP1/WSP proxy interface (UDP port 9201) is used, there is no compression supported on that interface. -- Des NowSMS Support |
