Hi Des Wanted to know how does NowWap proxy help if NowSMS is used as the MMSC? Is there some kind of advantage in using NowWap as the MMS proxy? I tested using NowSMS as the MMSC and even with the MMS proxy not being defined or set in the MMS settings the MMS delivered fine. So why would NowWap proxy be required if NowSMS is used as a MMSC? Kindly let me know Thanks Sam

Hi Sam, NowWAP is required primarily if one of the following requirements exist: 1.) RADIUS integration for automatic user identification in a mobile operator environment. 2.) Support for older handsets or devices that only implement WAP1/WSP (UDP Port 9201). (Mainly older feature phones.) If those requirements are not present, the MMS proxy settings in the device can be left out, or if the client device requires them, they can point directly to the MMSC. (The MMSC will not proxy externally, but it is happy to accept client MMS requests that are in proxy format.) -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Des Thanks for your reply. Point 1 is not applicable. Only this one: 2.) Support for older handsets or devices that only implement WAP1/WSP (UDP Port 9201). (Mainly older feature phones.) Are older feature phones using UDP port 9201 still existing in the market now a days? Kindly let me know. Thanks Sam

Hi Sam, You never know what you'll find in different corners of the world. But I'd be surprised to encounter a device that only supported the UDP 9201 WAP1/WSP protocol currently on the market (for the last 2 or 3 years). I'm talking about mainstream networks with the above statement. The benefit of this protocol is in dealing with slower high latency networks. This is still a preferred protocol on TETRA networks, which is a protocol used for some government networks and railway networks. -- Des NowSMS Support
