A lot of operators have been retiring their WAP1 gateways. We've compiled an updated list of operator MMS settings (http://www.nowsms.com/mobile-operator-mmsc-settings), but have yet to update our software downloads with the new list.

Change the WAP Gateway Address to http://149.254.211.10:8080 and it should work.

Move the SIM card to a phone and make sure you can send MMS using it. (If the SIM card came with the modem, it might not be provisioned for MMS.)

There should be an MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG (if not, enable it on the "Serial #" page and try sending another message). I'd like to take a look at that ... post in reply here with that file as an attachment ... or send it via e-mail to nowsms@nowsms.com with Attention: Des in the subject line.

Also, on your local network, please let me know what IP address and netmask you are using. (Use the command IPCONFIG /all from a command prompt Window if unsure. Sometimes when private networks use a 10.series address this can cause confusion because the operator is using the same range.

(If you do send via e-mail, drop a quick reply here so that I can promptly look at the log file.)

Got the log. I need to discuss this with my colleagues ... it is not what I expected.

I assumed we were timing out and not getting a response back. But actually the T-Mobile gateway is reporting a timeout error, like there is an internal network problem on their end.

This needs more research, so it might take longer than I initially expected.

While I do some more checking, try this alternate setting for the WAP Gateway Address: http://149.254.201.135:8080

One more quick idea ... try removing the / from the end of the MMS Server URL ...

http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002

Syntactically it should be the same with or without the change, but official phone settings from Tmo do not include the /

That is odd. I know that server address used to work, but we have seen some changes recently with customers who use Orange UK, and since they are merged with TMO into EE, it is likely that they are now using the same infrastructure.

On to receiving MMS ...

Does the SMS received counter increase when an MMS is sent to the modem phone number?

Assuming that it does, locate and manually edit the MMSC.INI configuration file, adding the following settings under the [MMSC] section header:

HeaderUserAgent=iPhoneOS/4.2.1 (8C148)
HeaderProfile=http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

We ran into this issue with Orange in the UK earlier this year ... they stopped delivering MMS messages to previously working systems until these settings were added. The MMSC wants to know what phone model to format the message for, and these settings indicate an iPhone. (We'd prefer that the MMSC not do any phone specific formatting, but this is least intrusive.) These settings are applied by default in future releases, but can be manually applied now.

Hi Andrew,

MMSC.INI can be found in the ProgramData\NowSMS directory. (On most Windows installs, ProgramData is a hidden directory, so it can be hard to find.)

Can you verify that you are able to receive SMS messages with the modem? Send a text in to the modem and let's see if that "SMS Received" message counter is increasing. We need to determine if the issue is a general SMS issue or MMS specific.

Sorry you seem to be encountering so much difficulty!
