I have an application configured as a VASP, and submitting MMS via MM7 interface to NowSMS Gateway. NowSMS is setup to deliver the messages using internal delivery, via binary SMS notification to handset and handset retrieves content over the internet back to NowSMS Gateway. All works, but, for some reason mobile does not get the binary SMS message (memory full, carrier lost msg, end user error, etc.). Although the NowSMSC Gateway saw a successful SMS/SMPP delivery, no retrieval attempt was made to the NowMMSC Gateway. Is there a way to have the NowMMSC Gateway retry an internal delivery because there was no attempt to retrieve the message by mobile after some period of time?

I can control the servers, but I can't control the SP network to deliver the binary SMS msg or the end user's mobile. So, is there way way to retry a MMS delivery, if not successfully download after some set period of time?

Hi Frank, Not at this time. At this time, the MMSC assumes that the SMS delivery service is reliable. We are planning a major new release in the near future (probably January 2006), and it will have a configurable setting for this type of retry. But I do not have a suggestion for how to do this today. -bn |
