I setup our MC35 (Siemens) modem initially with an O2 SIM and got it working to receive MMS. I put a Vodafone SIM in and altered the MMS setting to reflect the Voda APN, MMSC, etc and when testing NowSMS reports that GPRS commands aren't being recognised by the modem. Why is this when it's fine with an O2 SIM ?

It really doesn't make any sense to me either. If you put the O2 SIM back in the modem, is it happy? Then you put the Vodafone SIM in, and you get this error? Maybe the Vodafone SIM has a PIN code configured (put the SIM into a phone, and if there is a PIN, remove it using the phone UI). I can't think of what else it would be. Unless maybe the modem is SIM locked to O2. (I don't know if any MC35s are sold this way or not.) Can you send an SMS through NowSMS with the Voda SIM? If you're still not getting anywhere, go to the "Serial #" page of the NowSMS config, and enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG and the MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG. The MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG should show us the commands that are being sent, and the responses that come back when the error "Warning: Modem is not responding to GPRS commands. Testing will continue." is reported. -bn

I have a Siemens MC35i and I'm also having troubles with "Warning: Modem is not responding to GPRS commands. Testing will continue." I am using a MTN South Africa SIM card. Is it possible that the modem is faulty or just doesn't support GPRS commands required by MMS?? Or could it be the SIM card? What about the serial devices on the PC - could that be the culprit? Many thanks

Enable the MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG, as I'd like to see specifically what the command responses are that it is complaining about. What version of NowSMS? I really can't see this being a SIM card specific issue ... but looking at the MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG should allow us to troubleshoot. |
