When I try to use the NowSMS MMSC to send an SMS, or use the PPG, if the recipient MSISDN is in international format (+316xxxxxxx), it does not work. (when messages are sent in national format, 06xxxxxx, everything works fine)

From the traces (UCP) it is visible that the NowSMS MMSC just strips the '+'sign. In the SMSC, such a number is not valid. (as international number, it should have 00 in front)

Can somebody explain me how to configure the NowSMS to replace the '+'sign with 00?

Thanks,

Ivan

Hi Ivan,

In the UCP/EMI world, there doesn't seem to be a good way to handle this type of situation. There is a field for setting the type of address for the originator (sender), but not the recipient.

So generally speaking, you decide whether you'll be using national or international format based upon the sender address specified when sending.

If the sender is a national number, then recipient addresses are assumed to be in national format.

If the sender is in international format, then the recipient addresses are assumed to be in international format.

I suppose we could simply provide a setting for substituting in a value for the international prefix. Send an e-mail to nowsms@now.co.uk, and I will e-mail you back something to try.
