Steve, Unlike the GSM environment, there does not appear to be a standard "AT command set" to be used with CDMA modems for sending/receiving SMS. Various manufacturers seem to have different command sets, some based on the GSM modem commands, others based upon commands defined originally for TDMA. However, most CDMA modem interfaces (that I have seen), don't have clear definitions for how to set parameters that are important for binary messages. For example, Multitech sells a CDMA modem using a Wavecom chipset. It implements the same commands as are used for sending messages via a GSM modem. However, it does not include a way to set the CDMA teleservice ID. So it will work fine for sending text messages, but if you need to send binary messages (EMS, WAP push, MMS notification), you must be able to set the teleservice id, which is not possible. The only way that I have seen to get these binary message types out to a CDMA network is via an SMPP connection where the SMSC supports the appropriate CDMA teleservices. (We've added support for this in NowSMS v5.50.) -bn |
