I've got an Aircard 750 and service from T-Mobile (unlimited data and provisioned for MMS) and am having difficulty receiving MMSs. The card receives SMSs fine, and I have it set to process incoming MMSs... however nothing ever shows up in the MMS-in directory... How can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks!

Josh,

First I'd suggest putting the SIM into a phone, and verify that you can receive MMS messages from the T-Mobile MMSC with the phone. (Send a message with a graphic attachment to phonenumber@voicestream.net.)

If you receive that as an MMS, then you are provisioned for MMS. If you receive that as an SMS, then you are not yet provisioned for MMS. (However, I have heard that with T-Mobile in the US, you are automatically provisioned the first time you send an MMS through the MMSC. So try that.)

Once you have verified that is ok ... then go back to the Aircard.

If you are using a NowSMS v5.50 beta release, highlight the modem entry in the "SMSC" list, and select "Properties". On that page, I recommend setting "SMS Message Storage" to "Direct to Modem" for the Aircard 750.

For the "Receive MMS Settings", you should have the "Network Connection" set to the "Network:" entry for the Aircard, instead of treating it as a modem.

Then you need to have the appropriate APN for MMS access configured for auto-connect in Watcher.

I posted some recommendations for how to configure the Aircard in the following thread:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/2265.html

So, I'd suggest following those recommendations.

One question, do you have any files appearing in the MMSINQ subdirectory?

Bryce,

Many thanks -- I'll give all this a try. However I'm using an evaluation version of NowSMS (4.2) -- can I download the v5.5 beta and use it until the evaluation expires? Will using the older version impact the process you've specified?

thanks,
Josh

Josh,

There's no problem using the v5.5 beta in eval mode, it will work just fine.

v4.2 couldn't receive MMS messages from an operator MMSC unless the operator MMSC was accessible over the internet (very few are).

v5.0 added the ability to send/receive MMS over GPRS, which lets you connect to more operator MMSCs.

Still, rather than downloading the v5.01 release from the web site, I'd suggest going right to the v5.50 beta.
