Hi, I am testing Now SMS/MMS Gateway Lite Edition (v2014.06.30). The modem is a Samsung Galaxy Pocket Gt-S5300 Android Phone. The sim in the phone is from the 8ta network in South Africa. Sending an MMS to a phone number on the Vodacom network is never delivered. I have tried 2 other South African networks and delivery is successful. I am however able to manually send an MMS from the phone to a Vodacom phone number when NowSMS modem app is stopped. Any advice, assistance is appreciated.

Hi Mark, That is very strange. Obviously, for some reason the message is being dropped at the carrier interconnect. But I can't imagine why. Does the "Test Message" option in the configuration program also go missing? I am wondering if it is a content related issue. Also, try the web interface with text only. I'm basically just looking for a pattern. -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Des, The "Test Message" option in the configuration does get delivered, just the test MMS fails. Sending an MMS using the web interface, URL with parameters and Email all work so at this stage it looks like only the test mms via config page doesn't work.

Hi Mark, That is very odd. I've looked at a few traces to compare differences between that test message and messages that get processed via the web or email interface, and I only see very minor differences...optional parameters that are not present in the test message, but are present in regular messages. Why these differences would only affect messages going across a particular inter-operator interconnect is a mystery, but that is my best guess. I'm going to upload an updated version of that test message which includes all optional parameters normally present in messages generated by the other interfaces. Try replacing the mmstest.mms file in the NowSMS directory with the version in this ZIP, and see if it resolves the test message problem. -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Atif, I think your question is very different than the others above it. Can you send MMS from the NowSMS web interface, or does that also fail? How does your NowSMS connect to SMS/MMS? USB Modem, Android phone, other? The log you posted shows NowSMS configured as a direct delivery MMSC...this configuration is used for installations as a mobile operator MMMSC, but will not work if you are using a modem. If you are using an Android device as a modem see the quick start guide here: http://www.nowsms.com/doc/quick-start-guide If you are using a USB modem, see http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/quickstartguide/NowSMSQuickStart3.pdf For a better technical understanding of how MMS works, see http://www.nowsms.com/faq/how-mms-works -- Des NowSMS Support |
