Yes, starting a while back I started having issues sending through the verizon MMS phones that we have, so after adding data to make sure that was not the issues and rebooting the phones we finally did factory resets and reconnected the NowSMS applications and now it sends test SMS messages fine but when trying to send test MMS messages it is giving different errors each time like Status: ERROR FAILED,TEST43AC Status: ERROR FAILED,TEST6F20 Status: ERROR FAILED,TEST1937 Any ideas would be great thank you!

Do the MMSC-yyyymmdd.LOG files provide any more error info? I know we had an issue of excessive retries when Verizon had a number blocked , and we noticed that underlying errors were not always reported in the log. Spoiler alert...in this case, the error that Verizon returns makes no sense. http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms20151009.zip http://www.nowsms.com/download/lite20151009.zip -- Des NowSMS Support

Oh...one other important thought... Before doing any NowSMS updates, do tests with the built in messaging client in the phone.

This seems kind of odd. I had just added 3GB of data to each phone, 1 of the three never went down, the other 2 seem to be going through data like crazy just sending mms messages. I thought any type of messaging was included with plans and did not use data? unfortunately the MMSC logs provided no helpful information at all.

Hi Robert, That is an interesting point about data. I had not thought about that as a possibility when considering your issue. In this instance, the logs would not provide much detail, because the connection would simply fail. Whether or not MMS counts as data usage depends on the mobile operator. Most mobile operators use a separate APN for MMS. Data transfer over this APN is limited to MMS and not counted as data. Other operators use the same APN for MMS and general data traffic. Whether they charge for MMS traffic as data is then up to how their charging works. (For example, Verizon supports voice over data with VOLTE, and that data is not charged, but apparently MMS is.) All of the US operators use the same APN for both MMS and internet traffic, but I'm not sure they all charge MMS as data. As a case in point, one of the devices I tested was an AT&T GoPhone on a cheaper plan with no data. Web browsing fails, but sending and receiving MMS messages works. -- Des NowSMS Support |
