Hi,
We are currently implement realtime statistics for the MMSC.
We proceed as it is showed on the statistics papers you made ( quite useful by the way ). I check on the forum and paper but i didn't find the complete description of all the xmlstatus field. Our MMS system is quite simple, we have MM4 interfaces with our competitor and soon the MMS to email. I attached the screenshot of our stat taking from the NOW tools and also the output of the xmlstatus request. from the NowSMSStatus :
- on the MM4 statistics , the value are for inbound , outbound or both ?
- Regarding the queue conter , <SMSOUTQ>23</SMSOUTQ> are the sms in progress ( this could be a subscriber that has got his queue full on smsc side, what is the meaning of the following counter ?<SMSINQ>2</SMSINQ>,<SMSRCPTQ>0</SMSRCPTQ>,<MMSOUTQ>7</MMSOUTQ>.
- Regarding the sms counter , what is the difference between sms submit and sms sent as on SMPP norm the submit are the sms who are sent by a gateway.
- for sms received , on which case , a mmsc coul received sms notifications?
- for sms failed , which are the most common error source , it should be permanent error, but is seems that the failed sms are include in the retry , correct ?
- what is the meaning of MMSProcessedUser , is it the mms send by our customer ?
- what is the meaning of MMSProcessedVASP and why for us it is empty value.
- what is MMSSentMMSC is it the MMS sent by the MMSC , like a MT ( and MMSProcessedUser is the MO ? )
-same question for MMSSentVASP
- for the MMSRetrieved , it is the mms that had been retrieved by our customer

i know it is tough to describe the detail from statitsics but i think it could be useful for all the user.

Thanks beforehand for your feedback

Sorry Marc,

This is my fault. Des and I are slightly confused by how some statistics appear to be grouped together...so we want to review this with our engineering team. However, this discussion is being deferred until some high priority development and testing work is complete.

Hi Marc,

quote:

- on the MM4 statistics , the value are for inbound , outbound or both ?

outbound only (inbound is not currently reported in these stats, but is reported in web interface admin/status)

quote:

- Regarding the queue conter , <SMSOUTQ>23</SMSOUTQ> are the sms in progress ( this could be a subscriber that has got his queue full on smsc side,

Correct

quote:

what is the meaning of the following counter ?<SMSINQ>2</SMSINQ>,<SMSRCPTQ>0</SMSRCPTQ>,<MMSOUTQ>7</MMSOUTQ>.

SMSINQ - received SMS, pending 2-way command processing in SMS-IN DIR
SMSRCPTQ - similar to SMSINQ, but SMS delivery reports
MMSOUTQ - Outbound queue for MM4/MM7

quote:

- Regarding the sms counter , what is the difference between sms submit and sms sent as on SMPP norm the submit are the sms who are sent by a gateway.

SMS submitted is HTTP or SMPP client SMS submissions to gateway (n/a to your environment)

quote:

- for sms received , on which case , a mmsc coul received sms notifications?

It should not. If it happens, it would refer to an SMPP deliver from SMPP connection

quote:

- for sms failed , which are the most common error source , it should be permanent error, but is seems that the failed sms are include in the retry , correct ?

It includes permanent error and retry exceeded errors

\quote[- what is the meaning of MMSProcessedUser , is it the mms send by our customer ? }

Correct

quote:

- what is the meaning of MMSProcessedVASP and why for us it is empty value.

Messages received via MM4/MM7

If this is empty, it suggests MM4 is being treated as generic SMTP. Do you have MMSC VASP accounts defined for MM4 partners? Refer to https://www.nowsms.com/mmsc-mm4-interconnection-basics
Or this might be a better reference: https://www.nowsms.com/techsupport/training/mmsc-interconnection-protocol-mm4

quote:

- what is MMSSentMMSC is it the MMS sent by the MMSC , like a MT ( and MMSProcessedUser is the MO ? )

Should be count of MMS posted to your subscribers, but also includes converted to SMS

quote:

-same question for MMSSentVASP

MMS posted to MM4/MM7

quote:

- for the MMSRetrieved , it is the mms that had been retrieved by our customer

Yes

Hi Des
Thanks for your detailed response, nevertheless you know me now , i have always questions ;))

"outbound only (inbound is not currently reported in these stats, but is reported in web interface admin/status)" => i check both but i don't understand your point , on both the value are the same.

For SMSINQ, what type of message is it ? because it is more a sm-seliver as the Delivery report but DR are showed the line below

for the MMSProcessedVASP that are empty on our system , this is due to our configuration , we have MM4 partner but we only configure our competitor on MMSCrouting. This is mis configuration but as far as i can see it is working except that we don't have the message received by our MM4 interface. I will have to change it asap .
