Does NowSMS support changing the teleservice id for CDMA MMS?

sms teleservice id 65002

I was able to modify the sms teleservice if create a new SMPP connection to the SMSC and when sending a SMS the teleservice id is modifies correctly to the new number and is captured in the attached .pcap.

I used this thread for the SMS modification
https://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/70061.html

I am not able to find anything that shows how to set it for mms. When running the same capture for mms we are seeing wap as the service type and when looking at our .isf file we are seeing teleservice id 4100. Does NowSMS support modifying the teleservice id for mms using cdma?

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary,

When the "WDP Adaptation" setting is enabled, the SMPP service_type is set to WAP for any WAP push messages (such as MMS Notification), because that is what the WDP Adaptation specification says should be used.

WDP Adaptation is required in CDMA because the MMS notifications are generally longer than can fit in a single SMS, and there are issues with the SMSC needing to use the same message id for all segments of the message. With WDP Adaptation, the long message is submitted as message_payload and the SMSC handles segmentation.

I don't think it would be difficult for us to make the WAP SMPP service_type value configurable, but it is definitely hardcoded as WAP at present.

Is this something that your team can look into?

Des,

Were you able to look into modifying the service type?

Still waiting for this to be evaluated by engineering.

We've posted an update that adds the following setting:

* SMPP: Add option for SMPP service_type value of WAP when WDP Adaptation is enabled to be overridden. In the SMSGW.INI file, under the [SMPP - server:port] section header, use ServiceTypeWAP=xxxxx to override this value.

It is downloadable at https://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms20190705.zip

This is a full updated build of NowSMS. Run the EXE in the ZIP to install.

Advice for updating.

The NowSMS install program will upgrade or downgrade. If there is an unexpected problem requiring rollback, the quickest way to revert is to use the installer from the previous version.

If unsure, an alternate way to prepare is to backup all EXE and DLL files in the NowSMS directory. Restore these files to revert.

I am a little confused on your suggestion. Do I need to load the new nowsms.EXE or just add servicetypeWAP?

Previously you had be add servicetyoe without the WAP. Do I remove that now?

Here is what I currently have configured for the 2nd SMPP connection. Does it look correct?

DestNPI=1

Hi Gary,

Apologies for any confusion. Your settings do look correct.

The capability to override the WAP service_type when WDP Adaptation is enabled required an update.

nowsms.exe is an installer to upgrade an installation to the latest build, which incorporates a setting for this capability.

When WDP Adaptation is enabled, the WAP service_type is applied to any messages that specify source and/or destination port addressing, including WAP Push and MMS notification.

ServiceTypeWAP= is a setting newly added to this update, which overrides WAP as the service_type.

ServiceType= would continue to set the service_type for normal text messages.
