Setting up 2 SMPP connections to the same server is tricky because of the way NowSMS stores configuration information.

The only solution is to create a HOSTS file entry, and then configure NowSMS to see the server by two different host names instead of a single IP address. More details can be found at the following link:

Now, if that is your only SMSC connection, there may be an easier way. (I think you may already have multiple SMSC connections, but I mention this just in case.) Check the "Allow Sender Address Override" button, and when you want to send with an alpha sender, just include that as the "&Sender=xxx" parameter when submitting the message to NowSMS. As long as you have not overridden the default TON settings with a configuration setting in the SMSGW.INI ... NowSMS will automatically set the TON to alpha sender when appropriate.

SMPP operators like to treat the TON as an important setting. However, the automatic handling of TON and NPI in NowSMS works for most configurations.

If the sender contains alpha characters, we set the TON to indicate alpha format.

If the sender or recipient starts with a "+" character, we st the TON to indicate international number.

Otherwise, we set the TON to indicate national number.
