Hi.
Is it possible to send the MMs message via a wap push, download it and save it in mms folder as it's done using the MMS pull mechanism?

Hi Daro,

Generally speaking ... no.

As it was explained to me in the early days of MMS by a technical person at one of the device manufacturers ... being able to do this would present too many security considerations.

The MMS protocol requires that first an MMS notify PDU is pushed to the device ... and then the client fetches the MMS message content based upon the URL in the MMS notify PDU. You can't bypass the notify PDU and download the MMS message directly.

We experimented in this area during the early days of MMS, with alternate approaches to delivering the notify PDU to the device, but determined it wasn't really practical.

The idea was that the MMS notify PDU would be downloaded via the WAP browser, instead of sent via SMS. That would trigger the MMS client to fetch the MMS URL as if it had received the notify via SMS.

It worked on a couple of devices, but didn't work on most devices, because the protocol requires that the MMS notify be delivered via WAP Push (a special type of WAP Push, not the service indication push that is used for other types of content).
