HI i've been using a motorola v3 for sending sms and was searching for "how to send faster". I found the GPRS possibilities and tried.. the connection test is ok but the speed is still the same. 5 seconds per messages. how can i confirm that the message is sended via GPRS? is there something else to configure except the mms settings in the modem connection tab? | |||

Hi, The settings that you reference above are for sending MMS. Go to the "SMSC" page, highlight the modem in the list and press "Properties". Change the "SMS Access" setting to GPRS. Use the "OK" button to save the settings, and then "Apply" (or "Appliquer" ) to save them. When this setting is in place, NowSMS sends instructions to the modem to tell it to send SMS messages via GPRS. However, it also tells the modem that if it cannot send via GPRS, it can fallback to GSM. Some mobile operators do not support SMS over GPRS. And when it is not supported, the modem usually falls back to using GSM ... although in some instances the messages are simply rejected and not sent. If you want to experiment and try disabling the fallback to GSM, you could edit SMSGW.INI, and under the modem specific section of the file (e.g., [Modem - Motorola USB Modem]), add CommandPostInit1=AT+CGSMS=0 Still make sure that "SMS Access" = "GPRS" is set in NowSMS, so that it performs other modem initialisation for SMS over GPRS. But then after the standard NowSMS modem intialisation, this AT+CGSMS=0 command tells the modem that it is only allowed to use GPRS (packet switched network) for sending SMS. -bn |
