Hi,

I'm sorry, we will be a bit delayed in responding to technical queries until after the NowSMS 2006 release on Feb 24.

This sounds like a character set encoding issue. Are you submitting via SMPP? If so, NowSMS assumes that you will be using the GSM character set ... unless you specify data_coding=3 (iso-8859-1/latin) when submitting the message.

There also may be some issues with different versions of NowSMS. If you are running a release prior to v5.51, update to v5.51 by downloading the latest trial version from our web site (it will recognise existing serial numbers).

If you have v5.51, but have a version prior to v5.51k, then try downloading the patch at http://www.nowsms.com/download/latestpatch.zip, as I know it does more automatic character set determination.

Dear Brice,

One of our customers has the 5.51 version and seems to encounter the same problem of character display as himansu, while sending SMS via the web interface.

Is there any settings to change in SMSGW.INI file to change the encoding?
I saw you suggested to set an encoding (3): where/how to do that ?

Regards,

I forgot to mention that SMSC connection is SMPP.

Hi Cécile,

The above thread was referring to using another SMPP client to submit SMS messages to NowSMS. So that is why I was referring to setting a particular encoding option in the other SMPP client.

If you are using NowSMS to connect to an SMPP server, you can control the character set under "Advanced Settings" when you define the SMPP connection.

Try setting "SMSC Character Set" to "iso-8859-1 (Latin)".

That generally resolves this type of problem.
