Hi, I was wondering if there is a repository of repalcement characters for special characters. For example if I send an SMS with a sollar sign in it "$" it is receieved as an upside down question mark. And depending on the message I send, sometimes the complete receieved message is corrupted. Thanks

Hello Tarun For special characters you can review this page it might help you http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/sending_messages/sendin g_text_messages.htm and about a complete corrupted message are you trying to send a long english message via SMPP? if yes go to the SMSC SMPP connection properties > advanced settings > un-check the box (Encode long text messages with 7-bit packet encoding) and it will work fine

THanks for the link. Not sending a long english message, but sending messages like "You have been credited with $50." The dollar sign gets converted into an upside down question mark, so I am forced to send the full text "dollar" makes the message longer and awkward to read.

It would help to have more details about your SMSC connection. Are you using an SMPP connection? If so, try going into "Properties" for the connection on the "SMSC" list. Then select "Advanced Settings", and try changing the "Character Set" to "iso-8859-1 (Latin)". -bn

Thanks much for this... It appears to work. My setup here is quite simple... MMSC binds to a Logica SMSC via SMPP. The SMSC is setup to allow for two bind attempts for the MMSC Large account (one acting as receiver and one as transmitter). Tarun. |
