Hi, Our SMS software is no longer sending out messages. When I try to Test the SMS through SMS Gateway it comes back with error "Unable to Access Modem at COM1--Error 5--Access is denied. Another application is currently using this device." Where the SMS software is located is specifically for us and no one else can use it. I've updated to V2006.10.30 and that did not resolve the problem. Any suggestions on how to remedy this. BTW it is located on a Windows 2003 Server.

Hi Seamus,

This error code indicates that another application has the modem open. This means, another program running on that same PC has the modem open.

You should see a similar error if you go to "Phone & Modem Options" in the Windows control panel, select the modem, and use diagnostics to try to "Query Modem".

You don't mention what type of modem it is? Did the modem come with some software? Often this other software will automatically open a connection to the modem, preventing other software from being able to access the modem until you exit the other modem software.
