Hi I'm trying to get nowsms to work with a huawei e220 3g modem (Bt sim) I've added the modem and set the smsc at 07785014311 (bt) and 07785016005 (vodaphone) When I send a message through the web interface it gets added to the queue but not delivered by the modem: [SMS] SubmittedBy=127.0.0.1 Data=test test pid=00 dcs=00 Binary=0 PhoneNumber=<mymobilenumber> [ErrorDetail] RetryCount=8 LastRetryTime=20080520102334 LastErrorInfo=ERROR - Modem Response (2): +CMS ERROR: 500 -- HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem any ideas? | |||

Hi Adrian, Based upon your posting on another thread (http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/23928.html) it looks like you got this problem resolved. I am curious how you resolved it. "CMS ERROR 500" is a generic "unknown error" response, so when a modem returns this response, it can be tough to determine why. Often this response is returned when a modem doesn't have sufficient signal strength to find the operator. With 3G modems, as you have noted, it is also sometimes necessary to manually define the SMSC address. This is done by editing SMSGW.INI, and under the [Modem - your modem name] section header, add SMSC=+xxxxxxxxxxxxxx to specify the SMSC address. Note that rather than using a national number format (e.g., 07), use international number format (e.g., +447). Another issue that can come up is that often mobile operators do not have SMS enabled for the packet-based side of their network ... and attempts to send SMS over the packet network results in unusual errors. In the "Properties" for the modem in the NowSMS "SMSC" list, there is an "SMS Access" option of "Default", "GSM" or "GPRS". In a 3G environment, selecting "GSM" or "GPRS" doesn't actually mean to downgrade to 2G connectivity. Instead, the "GSM" setting means to use the "circuit-switched network", and "GPRS" means use the "packet-switched network". -bn |
