Hi Victor,

That is strange.

If you bring up the NowSMS configuration program, does it show the service as being active?

We have had some problems recently on some systems with the trial version code. We suspect that a virus scanner (I'm not sure which one) is blocking part of the installation program from running, so the trial period doesn't get properly set.

What happens is that instead of a 60 day trial, you end up with a 1 day trial.

My first guess would be that this is what you are experiencing.

Download and install the updated version at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsmsupdate.zip which will fix this particular problem.

If this doesn't fix your problem, please enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG by checking the appropriate checkbox on the "Serial #" page of the configuration dialog. Restart the NowSMS service, and then locate the SMSDEBUG.LOG. I'd like to see what that file shows.

Oops. I may have been incorrect regarding the above posting.

The particular change that I'm referring to is not yet included in the nowsmsupdate.zip link (although it will be in the future when that file is refreshed).

For now, the update is only available via the link http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms200811.zip.

Thanks for replies.

I've been testing your software to see if it can work with the services i offer.

I actually work for a VAS company (WASP). We upload services like competitions, flight schedules, horoscope, ringtone downloads etc.

could u please intimate me with how to upload services and attach shortcodes to them such that users send keywords to the specified short codes and they get replies or feed backs from the platform.

Does nowsms really posses this capability?

Hi,

To work with a short code, you need to connect with an SMS service provider (or in some smaller countries, directly with a mobile operator).

From a NowSMS perspective, working with an application on a short code is the same as working with a GSM modem.

The "2-way SMS" interace is what you typically use for your application.

When NowSMS receives a message, it connects to an HTTP URL for your application, passing your application the details of the received message.

You can configure different URLs for different short codes (or for different phone numbers if you have multiple GSM modems). You can configure different URLs based upon different keywords.

Or you can use a common URL where your application manages the logic of handling different keywords or short codes differently.

This URL for your application would be a script running on a web server somewhere, using whatever web scripting language you are most comfortable with (e.g., PHP, Perl, ASP).

Here's a link that explains the basics of 2-way SMS:

And here's a link that has some pointers to some simple examples:
